Hydra Alien Pro Car Mount
The Hydra Alien Pro car mounting system utilizes a highly customizable combination of dovetail plates and strong electronic suction cups that allow users to fine-tune the exact placement of their shot to achieve almost any angle possible when mounting onto a vehicle. The updated Pro design features added safety features such as retractable safety pins and a sliding design for small adjustments.
Electronic Suction Cups
The electronic suction cups provide advantages over standard suction cups with a 5-second attachment speed, 1000x per section real-time pressure detection, and 8-12 hours of battery life to maintain the hold. These enhancements are designed to save time and effort while keeping your gear even more secure.
ELECTRONIC SUCTION CUP SAFETY NOTICE
The Electronic Suction Cup, like other suction cups, has the potential to leave marks on various surfaces. It is recommended to take precautions such as using protective film or other materials to protect the surface being used. Using these suction cups in direct sunlight or in hotter environments can increase the chance of leaving a mark. It is not recommended to use these suction cups with wrapped vehicles.
 
It is recommended to use this suction cup on a flat surface with the weight of the arm balanced over the center of the suction cup. Extending the arm past the suction cup or side mounting the suction cup can increase the risk of failure. In these situations we recommend taking additional precautions such as further securing the system with Ratchet Straps or Safety Chains.
Regardless of additional safety measures, we always recommend pushing down the suction cup when first attaching it to any surface. The suction cup should be as flat against the surface as possible and should look noticeably flatter than when not attached. Attaching the suction cup without applying physical force to it can greatly increase the chance of accidental disconnection.
Camera Mounting
The updated Pro arm is designed to mount and unmount a small or midsize gimbal, such as a DJI RS4 Pro or Ronin 4D, using Manfrotto dovetail plates, and there are multiple safety pins and knobs to keep your gear secure. Multiple 1/4"-20 and 3/8"-16 threads provide additional mounting points.
 
NOTE: The suction cups do not support large loads such as the DJI Ronin 2 at its maximum load.
Load Capacity
The arm supports loads using different tension settings and a number of counterweights:
 
Up to 28.7 lb with the heavy setting, with rigs such as DJI RS4 Pro or Ronin 4D with a cinema camera
Up to 22 lb with medium setting, with rigs such as midsize gimbals like the MoVI Pro or DJI Ronin M with a compact cine camera
Up to 15.4 lb with the light setting, with rigs such as the DJI RS series gimbals with a mirrorless camera or the Ronin 4D
Power and Control
The dual V-mount provides power to the arm via the 12-17V power input. There is also a power output to keep your gimbal powered. You can remotely control the shock-absorbing head's payload mode and damping from 0 to 100 with the separately available Nucleus Nano 2 from up to 328' away. Damping tension can be adjusted, and the USB-C port on the arm allows you to upgrade the firmware with future releases.
Shock-Absorbing Head
The shock-absorbing head features two types of shock absorbers that can be swapped out in sets of four on the individual posts of the head for heavier or lighter loads. It prevents shake and reduces high-frequency vibration. A Manfrotto-style quick release plate allows you to mount your camera rig or gimbal.
Touchscreen OLED Display
The built-in touchscreen status display provides onboard control of damping tension, battery level, payload level, and wireless signal status.
